Fame And Glory Makes Winning Return At Navan

Monday, 1 January 1

Much of the focus at Navan on Sunday was on the return to action of the four-time Group 1 winner Fame And Glory in the Listed Vintage Crop Stakes and Aidan O’Brien’s charge duly justified him 2/9 price tag. Ridden by Jamie Spencer, the five-year-old was quite workmanlike in seeing off the late challenge of Nebula Storm by ½-length, but is sure to come on from the run and go on to better things later in the season. The most valuable contest on the card was the Listed Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Salsabil Stakes and it saw a very promising winning performance from the Jessica Harrington-trained Siren’s Song. Ridden by Fran Berry, the daughter of Azamour belied her maiden status to arrive with a well-timed challenge to lead inside the final furlong and win going away by 1½ lengths.
