Last Year’s Winner Jack the Bus All Set for This Sunday’s Ladbrokes.com Troytown Chase
Monday, 1 January 1
Last year’s Ladbrokes.com Troytown Chase winner, the Peter Casey Trained Jack The Bus, is a certain starter for this Sunday’s (27th November 2011) renewal at Navan according his son Francis, who said:- “he is as fit as we can get him for his first run back. The softer the ground the better for him and while he had a fall during the week, he is fine. He will come on for the run as he hasn’t run for a while. However, I am not sure who will ride him yet.”
Ad Idem, successful in a beginners chase at this venue last season, has a terrific record around Navan and he will represent Pauline Gavin who said:-“he’ll run on Sunday and with Andrew McNamara not back until next week, we have yet to book a jockey for him. ‘He loves it around Navan and the soft ground will be fine for him. He pulled muscles after his last run at Naas, but he is back fine again now. We are looking forward to it.”
Prince De Beauchamp and Quiscover Fontaine, both Trained by Willie Mullins looks set to shoulder top weight of 11st 10lbs in the race. The eight year old joined Mullins during the summer after he ran out a game winner of a valuable handicap chase for Howard Johnson at Aintree earlier this year. He is one of four horses engaged in Sunday’s feature by Mullins who is also responsible for the likely favourite Some Target.
Alpha Ridge remains a maiden over fences but assuming the ground is suitable, he will line up for Paul Nolan who explained,:- “he needs very deep ground and if we get that, he will run. He is not giving away that much weight, but he needs heavy ground to be seen at his best. If they get that, the plan would be to run.”
Eddie O’Connell has been booked to ride Telenor for Jim Dreaper while Gordon Elliott has confirmed that Tharawaat will face the starter: - “He is in good form and he was very good at Galway. He has a lot of weight on his back, but he loves testing ground and we’d be delighted if he ran into the money.” stated Elliott.
Noel Meade has entered both Sword Of Destiny and Texas Jack in the Grade 2 Monksfield Novice Hurdle, while Gordon Elliott has confirmed that he will run the smart Mount Benbulben. “He was very impressive the last day at Thurles and he is a horse that we think a lot of. We think he is well up to this class and we are looking forward to it and he goes well on soft ground,” remarked Elliott.
Darren Lawlor, Manager of Navan Racecourse said: - “This is Navan’s flagship day and always receives great local support. It promises to be another fantastic day’s racing with stars of present and future on show. We also have a Best Dressed Lady competition which will be judged by TV3’s Sybil Mulcahy and Miss Harper’s boutique Debbie Harper. The 1st race is off at 12.15pm and the ground is currently Soft. The forecast for the remainder of the week is for some scattered showers but mostly dry for the weekend.”
