Navan, A True Royal Ascot Test

From the Royal County to Royal Ascot: A Stellar Week For Navan Graduates.
It has been a very successful week for Navan Racecourse graduates at the 2025 Royal Meeting. While Navan is synonymous with top-quality National Hunt runners over the Winter months, the Royal Ascot occasion has proved its ability to produce the same results when it comes to the flat.

Gstaad set the week off to a flying start by landing the Group 2 Coventry Stakes - just his second start after winning on debut at Navan on the 17th May. The form of that Irish EBF maiden was franked then with runner up on that day True Love coming out on top in the G2 Queen Mary Stakes on Wednesday. In addition, Charles Darwin and Carmers were both also Navan winners this season, on 29th April and 17th May respectively, and both went on to land Group 2 contests this week. Carmers also provided trainer Paddy Twomey with his first Royal Ascot success - a particularly memorable moment.

Who knows it could have been five winners for the Meath track only for the retirement of Kyprios, winner of the Bar One Racing Vintage Crop stakes in late April who was bound for the Ascot Gold Cup. It's fantastic to see Navan graduates flying the flag and showing their class on the biggest stage - a true testament to the quality of racing and talent on show at Navan Racecourse.
